Law of Moses

God, through messengers, gave His holy, just and good Law. This Law did not contravene the promises God had made to Abraham. God introduced His Law to show sin to be sin—and that abundantly. For without law, sin lies dead and is not counted. The Law brought the knowledge of sin and aroused sinful passions. It was laid down for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners. It shall judge and bring wrath to those who sin under it. The Law made nothing perfect, gave neither life nor righteousness to its adherents, because it did not rest on faith. Rather, the Law held its adherents captive, constraining and confining them. It served as a temporary custodian until Christ came. Although the Law is the “old written code”, it may be put to good use when used in a manner consistent with God’s intent for it.
